May 21, 2011: Szentendre
May 21, 2011: Since the last several days have been quite busy for my mom, we decided to take a trip that required less walking today.
We took the subway to Batthyany ter to catch the HEV train but as we approached the HEV area, I saw that the gate to it was closed and locked. I waited in the nearby train ticket line to find out what was going on and the man in front of me could tell I was an American and explained that for some reason, the trains were out of order and that we would have to take a bus to a train stop somewhere in Obuda instead and from there go to Szentendre by train. He helped me purchase all our tickets and then found the bus for us to get to the train. It turns out that this gentleman had lived in Santa Monica and was a jewelry designer for stars such as Zsa Zsa Gabor, Schwartzeneggar, etc. so it was interesting talking with him as we rode to Szentendre.
In Szentendre we strolled down the street and encountered a langos stand so we bought a piece of langos to eat as a snack. Note the stove in front in which the langos is baked.

Then we spent most of our time letting the ladies shop and strolled the street catching the sights. We then returned to Budapest and had a nice dinner in a restaurant on Vaci utca. Meanwhile Szentendre is now minus six hand embroidered tablecloths since that seems to have been what we all purchased today!
